Localgiving, a leading membership organisation for local charities and community groups in the UK, has announced two exciting opportunities, exclusively for local Northern Ireland charities and community groups.
Localgiving’s mission is to safeguard the sustainability of the local voluntary sector by empowering charitable organisations to connect with supporters, fundraise online and take control of their future. Since the organisation’s inception it has assisted more than 4,000 charities to raise over £10m across the UK.
Localgiving is keen to encourage groups from Northern Ireland to become involved with its growing network of community focussed, locally embedded organisations.
As part of this push, Localgiving has been developing projects and opportunities, tailored to local charities and community groups in Northern Ireland.
Firstly, Localgiving, alongside Community Foundation Northern Ireland, is offering local organisations in Northern Ireland fully funded annual memberships to Localgiving. Thanks to support from the Big Lottery Fund, this is completely free. Membership allows organisations access to:
- Match funding campaigns- regular campaigns during which donations to the member group are doubled
- Free, comprehensive training and support on how to make the most from online fundraising and digital technology
- Gift Aid on eligible donations – members will receive 25% on top of donations, even if they’re not a registered charity
Furthermore, Localgiving have just announced a Match Fund, with a pot of £11,000, exclusively accessible to charities and community groups within Northern Ireland.
This Match Fund will run between Tuesday, September 15, and Thursday, September 28 (or until all the match fund has run out). During this campaign each donation made to a Northern Ireland member charity through Localgiving will be matched by up to £100.

Sian O’ Neill, Localgiving’s Northern Ireland Co-ordinator, said ‘Localgiving are excited to be offering groups in Northern Ireland this amazing opportunity to join our, ever expanding, network and make the most of our match funding campaigns. Our upcoming match funding campaign, available exclusively to charities and community groups in Northern Ireland, provides the perfect impetus to get involved- to develop their digital skills and learn about online fundraising”.
