Hundreds of residents in south Belfast gathered yesterday in glorious sunshine as part of the UK-wide Lottery-funded Big Lunch event to celebrate communities and remember the legacy of Labour MP Jo Cox.

Big Lunches were also held in Rasharkin, Newcastle, Derry, Killyleagh, Coleraine and in towns and villages in every part of the UK.

The Great Big Walk ended at the Holyland Big Lunch in Belfast, with Olivia Cosgrove and Noel Johnston finally sitting down to a meal made up of dishes from all over the world, after journeying 684 miles  to celebrate community initiatives all over the UK.

The Holyland Big Lunch was in memory of Jo Cox and all that she stood for, on the anniversary of her death.

The Labour MP was murdered a year ago this week in her Yorkshire constituency of Batley and Spen.
