VIEWdigital is an online platform. We aim to independently produce and publish original social affairs journalism in VIEW magazine/ezine and VIEWdigital news site. We cover issues that have a major effect on society and get readers talking about them. VIEW readers are interested in topical social issues and we as journalists are motivated to provide interesting social affairs stories to inform our readers. VIEW magazine is printed and distributed to libraries and we also organise events to promote discussion and debate on issues raised by our journalism.
Who we are
Brian Pelan, co-founder and editor of VIEW, has more than 20 years’ experience as a journalist, including working for the Belfast Telegraph, the Western Mail in Cardiff, and the Examiner group in Cork. His skills include editing, design and features writing. Brian has also lectured on production journalism at the Belfast Metropolitan College. He runs regular digital publishing masterclasses. Una Murphy, co-founder of VIEW, coordinates our digital and broadcast media workshops. She has produced and directed current affairs/factual/documentary programmes for UTV, TG4, RTE and BBC, reported for The Daily Mirror and The Irish Times, and worked on media campaigns for Save the Children Northern Ireland and CARDI, The Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland. Making a complaint to VIEWdigital
We can look into complaints about items we have published which are in our control. We adhere to the Standards Code adopted by IMPRESS and can only deal with complaints which relate to an alleged breach of the standards set out in this Code. https://www.impress.press/standards/
We can only deal with your complaint if you are:
- personally and directly affected by an alleged breach of the Code
- a representative group affected by an alleged breach of the Code, where there is public interest in your complaint
- a third party seeking to ensure accuracy of published information
We are also regulated by IMPRESS, but initial complaints must be made to VIEWdigital in writing at the following address:

We will acknowledge your complaint by e-mail or in writing within 7 calendar days and will normally respond to your compliant with a final decision letter within 21 calendar days. If we uphold your complaint, we will tell you the remedial actions we have taken.
If you are not satisfied with the final response to your complaint, or if you do not hear from us within 21 calendar days of submitting your complaint, then you can refer your complaint to our Independent regulator IMPRESS at the following address:
