Brian Pelan is the editor of VIEW and co-founder of VIEWdigital. He has more than 20 years experience in journalism. He has worked on several newspapers in the UK and the Republic as as senior sub editor, designer and features writer. His main skills are in editing and design and he is proficient on a number of computer programmes. Brian is one of the trainers on our Digital Publishing Masterclasses.
Una Murphy is the co-founder of VIEW and coordinates our digital and broadcast media workshops. She has produced and directed current affairs/factual/documentary programmes for UTV, TG4, RTE and BBC, reported for The Daily Mirror and The Irish Times, and worked on media campaigns for Save the Children Northern Ireland and CARDI, The Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland. She has taught journalism courses at various universities and colleges.
Barbara McCann has over 30 years experience as a reporter, presenter, and video journalist in the broadcast and print media in Northern Ireland and on a National and International level. During a distinguished career, her work has taken her to mainland Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, the United States of America and the former USSR. She also have a proven track record in producing, directing and scriptwriting – from news and current affairs to documentaries and high-end web and corporate videos.
Yvette Shapiro has three decades of experience in journalism. She has worked as a reporter, presenter and producer for the BBC, UTV, local radio and newspapers. She now works as a freelance journalist and consultant.
Dr Ruth Brolly, graphic designer, lecturer and researcher, brings the benefits of over 25 years professional experience to our engaging infographics workshop. She has worked for many UK newspaper titles in roles including Art Director, Design Editor and Editorial designer. She holds a PhD, a tertiary level teaching qualification and lectures in Graphic Design, while continuing her design practice for private and professional clients.
Harry Reid is a communications specialist, trainer and freelance writer. After gaining a Social Policy degree, Harry undertook postgraduate studies in Information Science before engaging in a 15-year career in the voluntary sector. Building on staff roles in policy analysis; media liaison; parliamentary lobbying and editorial production, in the late 1990s Harry became a consultant and trainer. Since then he has been engaged by dozens of not for profit organisations in the UK, Ireland and internationally. He facilitates training in effective writing; public speaking & presentation skills; digital storytelling and podcasting.
