St. Paul’s Boxing Club in west Belfast are punching the air with joy after getting a £7,200 funding boost.

The club received the money from the Whitemountain programme which provides grant funding for community projects.

The money will be used to upgrade the club’s shower and changing facilities.

Ralph McKay, on behalf of St Paul’s, said: “Our club has become a focal point for the west Belfast community, and through this investment, we are creating a warmer, safer, happier and more welcoming environment for all.”

Shannon Downey, Communities Lead for Groundwork Northern Ireland, added: “One of the key focus points of Groundwork Northern Ireland and the Whitemountain Programme is to support projects that consider the social and natural environment alike. The club’s proposal to upgrade their changing rooms will allow them to invest in their facilities so that they can continue serving the needs of the community.”
