Tributes have been paid to well-known Northern Ireland journalist Jackie McKeown who died suddenly at her home in Newry last Friday (July 7).

Fifty-four-year-old Ms McKeown worked at a number of publications, including the News Letter, the Croydon Advertiser, Newry Democrat, Belfast Telegraph, Irish Independent, Irish Daily Star, Irish Daily Mail, and the Daily Mirror.
During her time working with the Lisburn-based Lisburn Star, she was named IPR Provincial Journalist of the Year.
She was also the former editor of the Newry Democrat.
Among those to pay tribute was journalist and friend Carmel Robinson.
She said: “Jackie was one of a kind. A truly talented journalist as well as a kind, compassionate and understanding friend to many, including me.”
